Alexander Mikhailovich Ovechkin (Russian: Александр Михайлович Овечкин, IPA: ; born 17 September 1985), often referred to as "the Great Eight" or "Ovi", is a Russian professional ice hockey winger and captain of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL). He is regarded as one of the greatest hockey players in the history of the NHL.
